Vertical integration is a business model that offers control and security. It ensures a solid body of in-house knowledge regarding the processes on which you can generate impact. In the construction of industrial buildings, this concerns the production of concrete, the production of panels, beams, columns and vaults. But also the transport and the tools for installation. In addition to these elements, it also concerns joinery, roofs, techniques and finishing (floors, ceilings, painting, ...).
The impact of the organised implementation of sustainability through this organisational model is therefore much greater than when this model is not applied. When you have already built up a lot of knowledge within the vertical integration, sustainability is much better organised and can be applied faster within the organisation.

So, while compliance with regulations is a core responsibility, this alone is not enough. Organisations today must strive to create a positive culture in which everyone wants and knows how to do the right thing.
